Kerman’s Final Goodbye to Farm Workers Killed In Crash

A funeral was held at the Kerman Multi-Purpose Center at Kerman High School Saturday morning on March 9th.

The ceremony consisted of an open casket for family members only as well as a public mass.

Many in the city of Kerman and the Farm Workers community at large were in attendance, showing their respects and offering the family community support.

The funeral was the city’s final send off before each of the bodies are sent to Mexico, for their final rest.

3 of the 7 were sent to the states of Sinaloa, Michoacán, and Jalisco while the final four await their journey to the state of Guerrero, Mexico.

The costs of sending the bodies back is yet another burden that the families have had to contend with.

Luckily, they’ve had the help of the Mexican Embassy in Kerman, the UFW Foundation, and the community in Kerman.

“We’re very grateful, this left us with the lesson that we should stand together against everything, because you never know what can happen tomorrow,” Marcos Hernandez, cousin on Victor Hernandez says.
