Lifting Spirits and Raising Funds: Kerman’s Final Fundraiser for Farm Workers’ Families

The City of Kerman is still shaken by the loss of the seven farm workers who died in horrible crash Friday February 23rd in Madera County.

But that hasn’t crushed their spirits one bit.

“There is a time to come together and cry and there is a time to come together and celebrate life.” Mayor of Kerman, Maria Pacheco said.

She along the the non-profit Fuerza, and Radio La Unika were among the groups that helped organize the event.

A final fundraiser to support the families directly affected by the crash.

The night was filled with live music, dancing, delicious foods and desserts, and more.

Though it was a free event attendees were asked to give a small donation at the gate if possible and vendors at the event promised a portion of their proceeds to the cause.

Overall, Mayor Pacheco says the fundraiser helped raise over $10,000 for the families of the victims and the medical expenses of the surviving farm laborer who was injured in the crash.
